Polo returns to the Costa Smeralda
At the end of July 2021, the prestigious Polo Sport returned to the Costa Smeralda after eleven years. In cooperation with the Municipality of Arzachena and Consorzio Costa Smeralda, another spectacular summer event was launched in Porto Cervo. The Italia Polo Challenge combined both an exiting tournament and a spectacular event program including a newly built Hospitality Village and two opening parades in Arzachena and Porto Cervo.
The Polo Experience
Surrounded by relaxed music, drinks and shops to stroll around you can enjoy the prestigious polo tournament in true Costa Smeralda style. The Italia Polo Challenge welcomed it's guests first in Arzachena and afterwards in Porto Cervo with an exiting parade through both cities supported by the Brigata Sassari’s musical military band. Afterwards the glamorous Hotel Cala di Volpe hosted an exclusive cocktail reception for the organizers, teams and their friends, giving them a warm welcome to the Costa Smeralda.
Tournament 2021
The four teams Battistoni, Petra Bianca, Sea Earth Sky and U.S. Polo Assn. competed over three days in Abbiadori at the Andrea Corda Sports Centre. The games were held in the evening under floodlight on a shortened court which ensured a faster and more entertaining game. Petra Bianca won the first of three upcoming editions after the team beat Battistoni with 7-5 in the final. 3rd place went to Sea Earth Sky after an intense game against U.S. Polo Assn. winning 6-5.
